Dr Iruka Kumarage completed his specialist training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the UK.

He proceeded to advanced training in urogynaecology and pelvic floor surgery.

Dr Iruka Kumarage offers his specialist services at St John of God Berwick Hospital, Mulgrave Private Hospital, Waverley Private Hospital and Jessie McPherson Private Hospital..

Iruka has more than 20 years of experience in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He provides pregnancy care (including high-risk obstetrics).

In his Gynaecology practice, Iruka looks after women of all age groups with menstrual problems, pelvic pain (including endometriosis and ovarian cysts), contraception needs, menopausal issues, polycystic ovarian syndrome, fertility issues, urinary incontinence and vaginal prolapse. He also provides Colposcopy and IUCD services in his Berwick consulting rooms

Iruka previously worked as a specialist in London and Surrey, before migrating to Australia with his family in 2013. He has been providing exceptional services to Ballarat and regional Victoria communities over the last ten years.

Iruka performs a wide range of Gynaecological surgery including minor (Hysteroscopy, D&C, LLETZ, cone biopsy etc.), intermediate (Operative laparoscopy for endometriosis and ovarian cysts, procedures for urinary incontinence) and major surgeries (Laparoscopic/abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, repair of vaginal prolapse).

Iruka is a member of the teaching faculty at Melbourne and Deakin Universities. He has been an examiner for medical trainees both in Australia and the UK. As a Training Supervisor for RANZCOG, Iruka helps nurture the next generation of specialists in O&G.

Iruka still finds time to enjoy sports. He is also a music enthusiast playing the guitar and the oriental bamboo flute.
